3 Tips for Planning a Family Vacation in a Two Bedroom Cabin in Gatlinburg

Are you trying to plan a family vacation to Gatlinburg this winter? With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season coming to a close, a winter vacation may be just the thing you need to relax and enjoy a fresh start to the new year. Try to stay when there will be snow in Gatlinburg. At Stony Brook Cabins, we can't guarantee that there will be snow on the ground for your Gatlinburg vacation, but we can give you some pointers! Since the weather is so unpredictable in Gatlinburg, it's hard to plan a vacation around the snow.

So, to see the snow, you may have to visit some of the upper elevations of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Throughout the majority of the winter season, you can find mountaintops covered in snow and frosty roadways in the national park. So, if you want to see the snow, take a drive through the mountains or visit an attraction like the Aerial Tramway at Ober Gatlinburg to see the snow from there. Of course, you can always hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's open year round to the public at no cost. So, if you want to see the mountains in person, bundle up and take a hike through the woods!

Keep in mind that the weather will be cold. The weather in Gatlinburg will be fairly cold. Although the temperatures don't drop to that of some of the Northern states, it can still be pretty cold in the winter. So, make sure when you are packing your bags that you bundle up in layers of clothes. Sometimes the lower elevations are quite a bit warmer than the upper elevations, so you'll want to have layers of clothes to keep yourself comfortable throughout the day.

Since the weather might be too cold for young children to spend too much time wandering around outside, it's a good idea to keep in mind the indoor attractions in Gatlinburg. An attraction like Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies is a great idea, as well as spending some time in the shops and restaurants along the Parkway. If you're out and about, wandering around, there are plenty of places to stop in to warm up. There are also a lot of shops selling hot chocolate and warm snacks, so you can stay nice and cozy even on cold days in Gatlinburg.
