The Big Poplar Retreat

The house was impressive. Spotless. It was in the perfect location close to all the attractions. Last visit we stayed in a high mountain house, we were to scared to go up and down mountain and were not able to enjoy attractions. This home was walkable distance to the main strip. Every day we were able to go enjoy a different attraction. Enough space for a large group of people. Looking forward to next year.

Stony Brook Cabin was the perfect size for our group of 35. It is a beautiful cabin! The bedrooms are very large with plenty of pillows and towels. We cooked all of our meals at the cabin and the kitchen had all the supplies we needed. There weren’t quite enough indoor seats for everyone to sit at a table, so a few people had to sit on the couches to eat, but there were side tables that pull up. If the weather was warmer outside there would have been enough chairs on the balcony. We utilized the hot tub, movie theater, and games and even saw a bear two nights! We walked 0.4 miles to downtown Gatlinburg; there is a bit of a hill coming back to cabin, but not too hard to walk though. Overall, we would stay here again if needed.

We rented the Big Willow and Big Poplar for a company outing, and it was perfect! The cabins were clean, spacious, and fit everyone with room to spare. The individual bathrooms off of each bedroom really sold us, this was great - would also be great for a large family! The staff was accommodating throughout our entire stay and during the booking process. I would highly recommend working with Stony Brook Cabins! The cabins were rented were a 10-minute walk from the Strip which was a popular spot for us. 10/10 Recommend!

My family and I stayed in one of the larger cabins (13 bedrooms) and it was wonderful. Even with there being so many of us everyone still felt like they had room to move around without being on top of each other. They provided everything we needed in terms of linens cookware dishes etc. They even provided plenty of soap and toilet paper to get us through the first couple days. Everyone in my family was pleased with my choice of cabin this year! It’s looking like we’ll be back next year but in a larger cabin!

We had an incredible stay at this stunning cabin for my 45th birthday! The space was enormous, allowing our group to spread out and enjoy both cozy gatherings and private moments. The cabin was beautifully furnished and equipped with everything we needed.The outdoor area was a highlight, featuring a hot tub, rocking chair seating, and plenty of space for activities. The host was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for a smooth stay. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a memorable getaway. We can't wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time. The home was beautiful and everything worked well, no issues except a few visits from the bears, but they continued on to where they were going. It was refreshing watching them. The neighborhood was exceptional! We will definitely come stay again in the future. KUDOS to the staff when communicating with us!

This was a great cabin for our youth retreat! Plenty of beds for everyone to sleep, walkable to the Gatlinburg downtown and an easy trip to the grocery story. My recommendation for those planning meals is to bring the basics as the kitchen is not well equipped. A very limited number of pots and pans, so if you are cooking for a large group you will want to bring extra. Also, while the instructions clearly state that no food can be left, I didn't prepare for a completely bare kitchen. You need to either bring or plan to buy everything (from salt and pepper to aluminum foil).

We had a group of 18 stay at the house with several small children (think nap-time is still essential) so we had more rooms than we needed, but it was perfect. There was enough space for 18 of us to comfortably hang out in the open-concept kitchen/living room without feeling stressed out. Having that many bathrooms, the little movie theater seating, and the fantastic bunkbeds made this for an absolutely terrific stay. I booked it for my mom's birthday and the hosts even sent a small card and a bear for her to congratulate her. I highly recommend this place and would love to stay again. We saw bears every day of the stay (including one who nonchalantly walked through the backyard), which was exciting and fun! The floors needed a bit better vacuuming, but that's really the only criticism I have for it. It is spacious, comfortable, overall very clean, and made you feel like home immediately (although I cannot comfortably fit 18 into my home). For anyone with a big group (and small children) this is a fantastic decision. Additionally, you can walk to downtown Gatlinburg, it's about half a mile to walk, so you dont even need to pay for parking or worry about traffic. Thank you for letting us stay here!

We enjoyed the house/area so much that we’re already planning to return here for our 4th Annual Family & Friends Retreat in 2025. The house was clean and spacious enough for us all to feel like we could sneak away and get some quiet time if we chose to do so. The hosts were very responsive and helpful with providing ongoing updates and offering assistance if needed. This cabin was definitely above and beyond our expectations and we are looking forward to staying here again very soon. The hot tub and pool were a plus, although we never used either due to the weather. However, the added amenities were most definitely a bonus.

This property was the perfect location for an annual office retreat. The accommodations were more than enough for our visit to Gatlinburg. Located within a short walk to downtown with a shorter walk to a trolley stop. This was very convenient for taking in restaurants and shopping without the hassle of attempting to park on the main strip. The house is beautiful with cabin themed decor throughout.

Amazing spacious well stock great location

Location was GREAT. We were able to walk to and from the downtown main area of Gatlinburg, even the 4 year old. Watched the fireworks on New Years Eve from our deck with a great view. Large Gathering Room on main level with kitchen/dining area was great for our large group. We had a few minor problems but as soon as we notified the manager the problems were immediately taken care of. We recommend this to large groups and we look forward to going again soon.

This place was great. Even better than expected. It was super clean and check-in was easy for everyone. Plenty of parking. The house itself is in a great spot- walkable to the center of Gatlinburg but you also have some great forest/mountain views from the front and back of the house. Great place and we hope to go back to this house or one of the others in the complex.

Property was awesome as advertised very clean. Cabin feels much larger than the impression I got from the pictures. Stairs were a bit steep and was a challenge for some of the older members of the family. Minor issues at arrival that didn't impact our trip but host offered to have someone fix. Close to everything in downtown Gatlinburg. The trash bins inside the house and in the community are much smaller than expected. Family of 19 had a great time would definitely rent again.

Our family truly enjoyed this amazing cabin. We did see a bear and cub out back of the property but we followed instructions left to not feed bears and other information. The parking spaces are labels for guest not be to confused where to park. The house offered great space for entertainment, cooking and relaxation. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.

We stayed here for the holidays and this cabin greatly exceeded our expectations!! We loved our stay. Our son is a tech geek so he was able to get everyone’s television working properly. Would definitely love to revisit!!

This property was nothing short of GREAT! The photos were spot on. There were any surprises and my family enjoyed every night. The location is spot on. Everything is within walking distance. The high light of our stay, aside from the actual cabin, was seeing the black bear multiple times. He didn't bother anyone while taking his morning and night walks. He simply cruised the sidewalk and kept quiet. If I could make any recommendation it would be to look into new mattresses in the near future. They weren't the most comfortable. We still had the best time and will be returning for sure.
